I sought out four master engravers across the United States because I needed to understand this trade at its roots — not just how to do it, but how to do it right. That pursuit brought me back to Whitefish, Montana, where I now work in gold, silver, and steel — setting gemstones into pieces built entirely by hand.

My work tends toward intricate scrollwork and detailed animal engravings — subjects that demand patience and reward precision. I recently spent over 60 hours on a single engraving, finishing it well enough to pull an intaglio print from it. That kind of challenge is exactly why I do this. The pride when a piece is finished is something I haven't found anywhere else.
